The sixth house of Lotus Sunrise designs, is sure to appeal to those who appreciate God’s creatures, great or small, created, `a la mode de Lotus Sunrise’s trademark style of “line art”. My own love and respect for animals will pay tribute to this world’s magnificent living things.
Did you know that the Elephant signifies qualities such as patience, wisdom and chastity? Also, because of its size and strength, the elephant symbolizes power and according to Buddhist tradition, a white elephant is the symbol of royalty.
Man’s loyal companion, was immortalized in the heavens by the ancient Greeks, in the constellation Canis Major (The Great Dog). According to mythology, Lælaps was a dog that could outrun anything it pursued. However, it met its match eventually when Lælaps encountered a fox that ran even faster then him. It seemed the great dog and the fox would race each other eternally, and so Zeus intervened turning them both into stone, and placing them in the sky among the stars. Canis Major is just one of Orion’s (the great hunter) canine celestial companions.
This is just a mere sample of the meaningful design descriptions that will accompany each of the forthcoming designs in “Call of the Wild” collection. You can get to know more about your favourite animals’ ancient meaning and symbolism, and find a design that calls to your “wild” side.
“Hours of Paradise”
At any given time or another, we may stop and be witness to a beautiful hour of more of the day or night, and wish we could capture that particular moment forever. The seventh house of planned designs will be just that.
Breath-taking hours of sunrise, midday, afternoon, sunset and evening, set in various paradise-landscapes and impressed with skies filled with their hue of the hour. These designs will possess a sense of “wishing yourself into them”, and may offer anyone a visual retreat for your own hours of Paradise.
Whether your idea of Shangri-la is an alpine meadow or vibrant lavender fields by sunrise, a lush green rainforest by midday, a peaceful fruit orchid with “la soleil” casting long afternoon shadows, a tropical island by sunset, or the dark sapphire blue of the Mediterranean Sea with twinkling stars above by evening.
Wherever you may dream of, a picture of paradise can be yours to savour from the new Lotus Sunrise selection of designs, forthcoming in “Hours of Paradise” collection.
Displayed here will be my flexible style in landscape art using a fine art format, for my “Paradise” subject matters, and encasing each design in a patterned border of fine line work to create a complementary frame.
Future “Paradise” designs may even go beyond the planetary terrain, with ideas for other worldly settings to inspire our long time human curiosity and visions of interstellar or intergalactic travel. Perhaps a design may interest you for a vacation spot in the year 3000…who knows?
This collection will be most unique to Lotus Sunrise’s entire range, for one could say, a new style will emerge from the alliance merged between” Line-art” and” Fine art,” in this house of designs.
Ever held a fascination for the beautiful intricacies of patterns in all forms of nature? The next “coming soon” collection will preview the inspired ideas for “Pattern of Nature” house of designs.
“Pattern of Nature”
In nature there are a myriad of colourful, intricate and unique patterns to be found in birds feathers, animal fur, leaves, flowers, trees, insects, sea creatures, rocks, or a single snowflake.
I have always held awe for the fascinating array of stunning and perfect colours and patterns that exist in our natural surroundings. I believe an extraordinary creator must be responsible for all the miracles on this earth. The eighth house of Lotus Sunrise’s “coming soon” collections, shall revere the beautiful detail of nature’s palette and designs that surround us each day.
If you are fortunate enough to have seen the vibrant and exquisite hues of a male peacock’s feathers, or delighted in the bright rainbow colours of parrots, then you will have sampled but a fine morsel, that which is quintessential of colour.
Bird’s feathers such as those of the proud peacock, is one of the designs to come in “Pattern of Nature”. Along with further innovative designs using the basis of other animal’s prominent features, either in their furry patterns, scales, or delicate wings of insects, they will all be created with the style and aplomb of Lotus Sunrise’s custom of Line Art.
The exquisite inclusions found in rocks such as precious and semi-precious stones, behold interesting and fascinating patterns and forms too. The geometric intricacies alone of a snowflake, each different to the next, can surpass our high expectations of finding miracles in this world, for miracles come in many ways, and are very often right in front of us.
One only needs to turn a leaf or pick a flower to appreciate my thoughts here. The “Pattern of Nature” collection will combine a deep love of nature and flamboyant designs, ready to grow on you!
“Garden World”
Ever stopped for a moment to imbibe the miniature world among the plants and flowers in our gardens, parks or wilderness? An entirely sophisticated order of life goes about their daily work as we pass by.
These tiny creatures toil laboriously to fulfil their special purpose in the world, with no questions asked. The ninth house is dedicated to some of the most enchanting, beautifully graceful and highly intelligent living things that charm children and adults alike.
In the storehouse of designs to come, Lotus Sunrise plans to manifest the garden world’s most loved creatures, such as the ladybug, butterfly, bee, dragonfly and snail matched with plant and flower designs.
Using oriental technique of stylized lines, these simple motifs will be transformed into eye-catching art. Design descriptions will tell of the meaningful symbols behind the subject matters, enhancing their poetical beauty and quality.
Butterflies are used widely in Chinese art and if combined with plum blossoms, this symbolizes longevity. Two butterflies together, offer meaning for a happy marriage.
Having given here a sample of deeper thoughts for an everyday insect, their miniature size is not to be underestimated for the various meanings they offer to human qualities, as well as the vast amount of work they contribute to nature.
“Garden World” is sure to enlighten one’s appreciation for the world just outside our door, below our feet or among our flowers and trees, vibrantly alive, with the hustle and bustle of their own complex society.
"Summer Fruits"
Since ancient times, many fruits have been linked to the gods and the very meaning of life, in harmony with all other living things. Through the miracle of the sun and water, interacting with the earth, beautiful and delicious fruits grow for all living things to enjoy.
Each fruit connotes a symbolic meaning, in mythology, religion, legends and customs in almost every culture on the planet. The Summer Fruits collection will be a celebration of the jewels of the season.
Bright and vibrant designs of delectable gifts from mother earth such as, citruses, the golden papaya, sweet strawberries, exotic rambutans, sun-kissed mangos, tropical pineapples, and dark amethyst grapes (the very food of the gods), are the starters on this artistic menu.
The humble lemon offers many a natural remedy for human ailments, and further insight tells that the classic citrus is a symbol of faithfulness and purity. Traditional lore also says that lemons were thought to have protective attributes and could ward off magic spells and poison. Nothing sour about that, many might agree!
Indeed nature’s bounty is rich in colour, flavour, shapes and sizes, making pleasant subject matter for the tenth house of Lotus Sunrise Designs.
Appetizing fruit motifs mixed with special patterns and stylized design, found only in the Summer Fruits collection, are coming in the near future, ready for picking to add a touch of summer all year through to your home or workplace.
"Mandala"
We arrive at the 12th house of future designs to come. The auspicious Mandala collection will be host to further intricate designs in the Lotus Sunrise range.
Since the dawn of time, many shapes and patterns have become universal. If one takes a closer look at all ancient cultures and civilizations and their art, you will discover how similar motifs, geometric patterns and designs were used to decorate various objects. The only thing separating them is the span of time and geographic location.
A mandala is an ancient sacred diagram and was designed for the use of being a focal point for meditation. It’s known roots stem from Hindu culture. A mandala may employ many symmetrical shapes and objects, drawing the mind to concentrate upon the geometrical composition, inviting the mind inward and beyond into a higher plane of reality and consciousness. In traditional Mandalas, four doors projecting from the middle of each side of the inner design, (usually a square encompassing a circle), provide passages through which the mind may enter or exit the center during meditation. Lotus Sunrise plans to create new and different designs for Mandalas, such as floral, animals, stylized creepers, zodiac symbols and glyphs, using unique geometric shapes and patterns.
Inspired by ancient and cosmic idealism and symbols from universal concepts and beliefs, the Mandala collection will offer anyone a touch of spiritual and earthly order, just as the number 12 symbolizes.
If you once were, or still are a fan of the 1978-79 series of the classic sci-fi television show, Battlestar Galactica, you may remember the Galactica’s symbol of an ancient mandala design adorning the warrior’s uniform jacket sleeves and on the interior walls or banner/flags, throughout the Galactica ship. The Galactica symbol was made up of a circle enclosing a pattern of opposing triangles. The triangles in this known ancient design, are in fact, comprising of lotus petals signifying reality unfolding, as it is perceived by focusing or meditating on the mandala. In turn, the triangles inside show a number pointing upward, which represent the male principle, and those pointing downward represent the female principle. Together in the same design, the triangles interlock to depict the continuence of creative activity of the universe or cosmos. Battlestar Galactica used many such tantalizing and interesting ancient symbols and ideas for the show’s story background and characters, linking their human tribes to earth!
"Glimpse Of Myths"
Welcome to the next preview of what will be the collection, for all those with a love and fascination for all things mythical and mystical.
The eleventh house is planned to behold wonderful designs of beings and creatures that originated from ancient legends and myths from East and West.
For centuries, mankind has simultaneously feared, as well as been deeply charmed and lured by fabulous encounters and tales of enchanting beasts, creatures and beings from the mysterious realms that many believe, exist side by side with our earthly, physical plane.
Here, Lotus Sunrise Designs will capture magical designs of Angels, Færies, Kinnara, Narilata, Mermaid, Unicorn, Great Sphinxes, and Pegasus (to list a few) to offer you a glimpse into this world of folklores, legends and fairytales.
It is said that many of the beings and creatures that have lived on in our imagination and are still recognised today, originated out of the Tigris and the Euphrates valleys in ancient times and spread to the east and west.
Our language has also absorbed numerous symbolic meanings and expressions of the enchanted world and its inhabitants, celebrated in poetry, art and music through the ages, in all cultures, in all parts of the world.
I, the artist of Lotus Sunrise, invite all, to take a moment to peer into this wondrous world, of perhaps supernatural yet fantastic and beautiful creatures.
Look through the veil between our world and the unseen one. It is indeed a thin and diaphanous one, and we sometimes may still feel a sense of its ancient presence for just a brief moment.
Some of us experience a knowing that another and many other, dimensions exist, and most times it taunts us with just an ephemeral glimpse.
But if you allow your burdens to melt away and escape for just a while, from what may sometimes feel like an overwhelming gravity pull from the earth you will discover your inner child spirit again.
Enter a house of designs that aim to inspire and open our minds, to the fleeting and mesmerizing mythical world, that stands still through time.
